Winter clothing needs vary across India, from mild daytime weather to colder mornings and evenings. The aim is to keep your baby comfortably dressed for the actual environment rather than adding as many layers as possible.
Use adjustable layers
Removable layers can make it easier to respond to changing indoor and outdoor temperatures. Check that necklines, cuffs and waistbands are comfortable and do not restrict movement.
Check the fabric and fit
Read fibre composition and care labels. Avoid clothing that is so bulky or oversized that it interferes with movement, handling or other safety equipment.
Watch for overheating
Babies can become too warm even in cooler weather, particularly indoors or when wrapped in multiple layers. Check your baby's comfort regularly and follow trusted health guidance.
Sleep and car-seat safety
Do not use loose blankets or bulky clothing in a way that conflicts with safe-sleep recommendations. Bulky coats can also affect car-seat harness fit; follow the seat manufacturer's instructions.
